To all who auditioned, thank you for your patience with this very long process. It presented numerous, sometimes unexpected challenges. Your preparation and professionalism was noted by all of the judges--I am proud of all of you! Those things matter.
For those of you who were not selected for this coming year, please know that the scores were closer than they have ever been. In some cases, it came down to 1/10 of a point. DO NOT GIVE UP and DO NOT QUIT CHOIR. You can improve your skills--they are not at a fixed point. You have nothing to be ashamed of. You simply have skills you want to improve.
In addition--you are all now about 40% prepared for ILMEA auditions this fall. We will see what this fall brings, but you should definitely consider auditioning. You've already done a great deal of the work.
In conclusion, every one of you needs to know that you are more to me than whether you are in Chamber or Concert or Treble. You matter because of who you are, not what ensemble you sing in--your value is not determined by audition. Be ready for great music and great leadership opportunities next year in every ensemble. I'm ready to push you to get better. I'm ready to push myself to get better. And I have a feeling next school year is going to push ALL of us to get better.
